Spinal Evaluation/Examination

  • Direct Digital Spinal Imaging-This highly advanced x-ray imaging allows the doctor to evaluate the spine more thouroughly with less exposure to patients, and with less impact to the environment. Digital Imaging allows the doctor to enhance images for greater detail which is beneficial during your Report Of Findings.
  • S.E.M.G. (Surface Electromyography)- Your muscles are controlled by nerves. The SEMG measures how well the motor nerves are working by reading the amount of electrical current found in the muscles. Spinal injuries big and small disturb the function of the nerve causing an abnormal amount of nerve supply flowing to your muscles.
  • Thermography- When the communication between the Nervous System and the blood vessels are disturbed, it causes the body's thermostat to malfunction producing an imbalanced temperature reading along the spine. These blood vessels are controlled by the same part of the Central Nervous System that runs yor organs and glands, known as the Autonomic Nervous System. This thermal scan provides us with information to monitor the Autonomic system for proper function.
  • Wireless Inclinometry-Inclinometry is the measuring of the "range of motion" for certain areas of the body . This an essential part of the examination process as well as an objective way to evaluate progress while under care. The wireless nature of the test assures that there will be no variable from examiner to examiner that would impact the results of the test, resulting in a very accurate test each time it is performed.
  • PWP-PWP stands for Pulse Wave Profile. The PWP assessment consists of monitoring the patients heart Rate variability (HRV) over time. By observing how the Autonomic Nerve System functions at rest we can assess the level of adaptability a person has to stress.
  • Algometry-This test provides an objective assessment of a patients pain threshold by measureing the amount of pressure that is applied to a particular region of the spine. We no longer have to only rely on the patient saying it hurts a little or alot. We can acually quantify how sensative a person is and monitor progress much more effectively.
  • Bilateral Weight Scales- The bilateral weight scales allow the doctor to measure a patients body weight  on their right and left side independant of one another. This is a great way to measure and visualize how the spine has accomodated or reacted to a spinal injury.
  • N.S.F.I.-The NSFI or Neuro-Spinal Fuctional Index is a quantification of all the tests above into a single number, a patients NSFI number. The healthier you are the higher number you score. This score is compared month to month
